I foolishly bought the Independent today, seduced by their cover story on Sunni insurgents’ ceasefire conditions.

But inside, there’s a piece on Richard Branson’s offer of a £10m prize for inventing a way of sucking up all the carbon dioxide we emit. On the same page, and mentioning the high emissions of Branson’s Virgin Galactic space programme, one Steve Connor asks:

“But how does he square that with his desire to turn us all into an army of carbon-crazed space cadets?”

Perfectly well, I imagine. Unless, in the eyes of the Independent, emissions are bad, period, even if you clean up after yourself. Or, in Branson’s case, pay someone else to do it.
