I’m not sure why the Equal Opportunities Commission is writing like Tony Blair talks, but that’s what it says on their website.
The EOC Wales site also says they’re ”working to end sex discrimination and create a fairer society for women and men.” And yet…
On their homepage, there’s a picture of a man and a woman. Even if we ignore for the time being that the two people depicted are tinted blue and pink respectively, which could be said to reinforce traditional gender sterotypes (though I imagine only a tosser would do so with a straight face) the woman is a muslim wearing a headscarf - a none-too-ambiguous symbol of female subservience and women’s second-class status.
Ooh, the irony.
ADDENDUM: It’s not always that picture - they cycle between that and one with an asian bloke and a woman in a hard hat.
