Hollow Man

There was an interesting remark on Comment Is Free the other day (I’d find the exact page, but I can’t be bothered - I’ve got one article to write, another to research and it’s Cup Final day) that pointed out that the Labour Party was never the “workers vanguard”, but was about “Keynesian Economics and a mixed economy”, and that, prior to 1979, so was the Conservative Party.

In that case, the principal difference between the parties was Labour’s commitment to public ownership - the famed “clause 4″ of the party’s constitution. Remove Clause 4 and what do you have left?

(Vaccuum.)
