Chris White is a sub-editor at Campaign magazine and a freelance writer and journalist.

He has previously worked for a range of publications from Front magazine to the Guardian newspaper, as a writer, sub-editor and researcher.

In June 2007 Chris completed the postgraduate diploma in journalism studies at Cardiff University, a course accredited by the Periodicals Training Council and including a module in automotive journalism accredited by the Guild of Motoring Writers.

The group of diploma students in which Chris worked as a sub-editor on producing a new magazine from scratch was named Student Team of the Year at the Press Gazette’s 2007 Student Journalism Awards, and praised for their publication’s “sense of fun and team spirit”.

Chris was also individually shortlisted in the category of Student Online Journalist of the Year at the same event, as well as in the student journalism category of the charity Mind’s awards for mental health coverage for a piece on the difficulty of caring for someone with dementia.

Before studying for the diploma, Chris worked for several years across both of Cardiff University’s student publications, functioning variously as a section editor, sub-editor and columnist. In 2006, articles Chris had produced for student newspaper gair rhydd netted him the Diversity Award at the NUS’s National Student Journalism Awards.

Before embarking on a career in journalism, Chris studied for an astrophysics mphys, also at Cardiff, and produced research projects on the classification of Active Galactic Nuclei and on advanced propulsion/launch technologies. Science remains an interest and specialism in his current choice of career.

Originally from northeast England, Chris lives in W12 with too many guitars and a Lib Dem membership card that he frequently considers sending back.
